The Edinburgh Festival Fringe started today (2 August, running until 26 August) and is the largest and best open-access arts festival in the world, containing a wide range of shows and events. Edinburgh is as crazy busy as it gets and it is a fabulous time to be in our capital city.
Out and about on our Edinburgh Food & Drink Walking Tour yesterday we came across a huge number of advertising posters for the shows and events, many of which had references to food or drink. The first one to catch our eye was Comedian Andrew Maxwell’s show entitled ‘Banana Kingdom’.
We don’t of course grow bananas in Scotland but the list below relates more specifically to the food and drink we do have access to and enjoy (well that is except maybe number 11: Will Mars (I know you are thinking deep-fried, even if I urge you not too!)
2 Fruitmarket Gallery
3 The Big Bite-size Breakfast Show
4 Finger in the Pie
5 The Fifth Duck
6 Afternoon Delight
7 The Colour Ham
8 Grist to the Mill

11 Will Mars

Naturally, we are not promoting any of these performers/performances as we haven’t seen the shows but it’s a fun, foodie list for you to enjoy!
And if you are in Edinburgh make sure you see as many as the shows as you can whilst leaving time on a Saturday for our 2.5 hour Edinburgh Walking Food & Drink Tour. £35 pp and includes all manner of tasty Scottish food and drink specialities, including a nip of whisky in one of Edinburgh’s most interesting bars and of course a little historical insight too.
